Do I need planning permission to upgrade or install a new bathroom suite?
In most cases, replacing or upgrading a bathroom does not require planning permission. However, if you are building an extension to house the bathroom, or adding a new bathroom to a Listed Building within Lincoln's conservation zones, you must obtain Listed Building Consent. All installations must strictly comply with Building Regulations Part G.
What is an unvented hot water cylinder, and does it require certification?
An unvented cylinder (pressurised system) connects directly to your mains water pressure and does not require a cold-water feed tank in the loft. Under Building Regulations Part G3, unvented cylinders store highly pressurised hot water and are classified as controlled services. They must only be installed and serviced by G3-qualified plumbers who can issue a compliance certificate.
